Company Overview

COMPANY HISTORY

Elms develops, manufactures and markets CD library systems. The first product shipments began in the fall of 1996.

The Elms DVLTM (CD-ROM Library) has been designed with the capacity to hold up to 100 CDs on-line. The system is controlled by PanoramaTM for Windows95 software. The software allows the user to store and organize up to 5000 CDs.

Elms also offers DVLTM (CD-R Library) with compact disc, recordable (CD-R) capability, which is similar to the CD-ROM version, except that it has one or more CD-R drives and software to manage the recording process.

Elms Systems Corporation was incorporated and began operation in California in January, 1995 and is located in Irvine, Orange County, California. The company was founded by D. Howard Lewis (President), William R. Miller (VP), and Robert H. Smith (VP Marketing).

ELMS VISION

Over the past two years CD technology has been widely adopted for many data intensive applications. The growth in the shipments of drives and media and the increase in the number of titles has been dramatic. For example, drive shipments have grown from 11 million units in 1993 to an expected 45 million in 1996. CD technology is forecasted to continue this high growth rate and to increase its share of the overall storage market.

Elms believes that the rapid growth and widespread use of CD technology has outstripped the ability of the user to effectively manage CDs in a business environment. The professional PC user with high CD usage is faced with excessive disc handing and low productivity. The network administrator has no effective means of keeping track of all the CDs in an enterprise and providing high accessibility levels at reasonable cost. The producer of small quantities (<100) of CD recordable discs is faced with manual disc handling, low productivity, and extended batch completion times.

Elms is committed to develop and produce the hardware and software solutions to make CDs easy to use and create. As a result, the user will enjoy the benefits of a product that offers easy access to CDs, full management of all the CDs, and easy duplication of CDs using CD-Recordable technology.
